Frequently asked questions
Is my pet boarded in a kennel or a home in Scottsdale?
Neither — VetterCare boarding means your pet stays in your veterinary professional's own home, not a kennel or cage/run. It's a comfortable, family environment with one-on-one attention, instead of being one of many dogs in a facility.
How is this different from a traditional boarding kennel?
Traditional kennels house multiple pets and are staffed by kennel attendants. VetterCare pairs your pet one-on-one with an experienced, background-checked veterinary professional in their own home, so there's individual attention and someone trained to notice health or stress issues early.
Can my pet's medication and feeding schedule be kept the same while boarding?
Yes — your veterinary professional follows your pet's normal routine and medication schedule exactly, so nothing changes just because you're away.
Will I get updates while my pet is boarding?
Yes. Your veterinary professional sends photo updates while you're away, so you know how your pet is settling in.
What if my pet has anxiety or gets stressed easily?
Because your veterinary professional is trained to recognize stress and behavioral signs, they can adjust — extra reassurance, a calmer pace, whatever your pet needs — in a way a general kennel attendant typically isn't trained to.
Do you require proof of vaccination before boarding?
For everyone's safety and comfort, we typically ask for proof of vaccination before boarding. That said, we understand pets come to us in all kinds of circumstances, and we're happy to talk through your pet's specific situation directly — reach out and we'll figure out the right path together.
Which parts of Scottsdale do you serve?
Our veterinary professionals live in North Scottsdale and South Scottsdale near McCormick Ranch, with more nearby in Tempe, Desert Ridge, Cave Creek, and Carefree. We also serve Paradise Valley. Not sure we cover your street? Call (602) 887-4411 or start a booking and we'll let you know.
Can my senior dog board with a veterinary professional in Scottsdale?
Yes. Tell us about your dog's routine, meds, and mobility when you book. Availability depends on each veterinary professional's schedule, so start a booking to see who's open for your dates.
